Fushimi Inari: Stairway to Heaven.

Fushimi Inari, Torii, Japan, Asia, lonelyroadlover

I’m falling headfirst into a dark red atmosphere. My hands are touching the painted wood piles. Black Japanese calligraphy is carved into them. Every character looks like a mysterious and subtle artwork.

Kyoto: Bamboo, Moss and Magic.

Moss Temple, Kyoto, Japan

While I’m pressed against the seat with my back, endless lime green fields and little houses with wooden roofs are passing by.  The bullet train Shinkansen is rushing through Japan from Tokyo to Kyoto with speed of light. Forests are decorating the rolling hills, and we leave the noisy and crowded capital behind us.

My Top 5 Sights and Things to do in Tokyo.

Shinjuku at night, neon lights in Japan, Tokyo travel guide

One million bright advertisements are killing my retina while the smell of joss sticks, curry and charcoal is calling for attention from my overwhelmed nose. Somewhere between plastic melodies and little wind chimes you can hear the dark sound of a ringing bell from the altar of a temple. There is not this famous building or that well-known place in Tokyo you absolutely have to see like the Statue of Liberty in New York or the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Big in Japan: 31 Hours without Sleep.

31 hours without sleep. 13 hours on a plane. With fear of flying. Drenched in sweat while 100 little miner were digging tiny holes into my brain. Even the $20-coffee in Moscow couldn’t save the day. After our arrival at a neat hotel in Tokyo we were more than done. This was for sure the worst and longest journey I ever had. All I wanted, was throwing my luggage out of the window from the 4th floor – and die.
